MIND THE GAP

Cracks, gaps, fissures

Individual choreographies and performances in public spaces and on the Plaine de Plainpalais, Geneva

GENF (CH) 2020

Unlike the MIND THE GAP - warning sign on a train platform, this workshop MIND (THE) GAP - individual choreographies and performances in public space is about tracing and paying attention to the gaps, breaks and fissures in public space. The analysis of these physical, social and political, historical, but also metaphorical, poetic and atmospheric gap phenomena were the focus of our joint research.

Through precise observations, reflections and discussions, together we identified gaps, cracks and fractures in the public space.

Identify public spaces and use their character, history and impact as the context of our interventions and actions.

Through actions, interventions and context-related performances, urban spaces were transformed into contexts for artistic action. Using a wide range of interventionist methods, such as performances and actions with banners, flags and signs, texts and symbols, we observed and questioned everyday movements.

Ultimately, gaps, fissures and cracks in urban public space offer countless potential for artistic interventions and for individual fictions and stories.
