In ancient history, the concepts of chance and randomness were intertwined with that of fate. People threw dice, bones or shells to determine fate, and this later evolved into games of chance. Deva Schubert and Ella Ziegler use randomness in their sculptural performance to generate temporary artistic aesthetic forms captured by the photographer Frank Sperling.
