INTARSIA

Environmental Art Project / Photography

KAROO DESERT (SA) since 2015

As part of the artist residency at Modern Art Projects South Africa - MAPSA, in the South African Karoo Desert, in collaboration with the South African artist Abrie Fourie and a local brickworks, bricks were formed from the local desert soil, dried and fired on site. Each brick represents a letter. I inlaid the words FEAR, ANXIETY, INVISIBLE and LINES into the desert floor like intarsia. Over the years, the desert floor absorbs the characters.

A series of photographs documents the intervention.
